A downloadable epitaph

This is your first career posting. You have been trained at Fleet Academy, but you lack much real world experience. Your job is vital to the survival of the crew and the completion of the mission…even if you do spend all your time below decks.

The ship and crew encounter danger on a regular basis. As you play the game, you will be drawn into events that are out of your control. These are the circumstances in which you are expected to perform your duty at your post.

As you play, you will record your thoughts and weigh your decisions in your personal log. By the end, you will hopefully end up with a journal that reflects growth, loss, challenge, resolution, and significance.

Being a crew mate on a star ship in deep space is both dangerous and rewarding! And nothing is guaranteed.

To play, you will need:

  • A blank journal: sheets of paper, a small notebook, or a voice recorder
  • 1 deck of playing cards, jokers removed
  • A falling block tower game (or virtual equivalent)
  • 1 six-sided die
  • 20 generic tokens (pennies, beans, pebbles, etc)

These rules are hacked from the journaling game Wretched and Alone by Matt Sanders under Creative Commons By 3.0 License. See here for more information: https://sealedlibrary.itch.io/wretched-alone-srd.

Any money realized from this game will be donated to the Children's Grief Center of New Mexico.  (Or give directly if you like!  Please leave a comment if you do.)

1 year since the adventure began with this game.  Thanks to everyone who downloaded and played RPL!  Wwatching that downloads number creep up has been very rewarding.

Keep your wits about you: I have a new game in development that will test not only your solitaire skills, but also your ability to rise through the ranks of the Imperial Fleet through repeated assassinations.  News to come!

This is cool; if you're a fan of scifi like Star Trek, this is a great journaling game. My first playthrough, I was expecting goofy adventures but ended up in a love triangle, suffered heartbreak, and eventually retired to start a farm.
